Covadonga Pilgrimage

Queridos pelegrinos,

The Nuestra Señora de la Cristiandad Pilgrimage in Spain has quickly become one of the great traditionalist gatherings of the year. Each summer, thousands of young Catholics walk from Oviedo to Covadonga, the site associated with the beginning of the Reconquista, covering roughly 30 km a day for three days through the mountains of Asturias.

Modeled on the famous Paris–Chartres pilgrimage, the route is marked by prayer, chanting, confession, and the Traditional Latin Mass, with pilgrims walking together in chapters from across the world. It is a demanding but deeply joyful experience: three days of prayer, penance, fraternity, and celebration in honor of Christendom and Our Lady.

Participation in our chapter is limited, and because of the pilgrimage’s rapid growth, space is extremely scarce. For our group, joining will require an application rather than serving as a guarantee of a place. If accepted, you will receive payment details to confirm your participation along with further logistical information. Please do not book flights until your application has been approved.

The pilgrimage involves walking roughly three marathons over three days, so pilgrims should come prepared for a physically challenging but spiritually rich journey.

Please take a moment to pray for the intercession of our patron, St. Joseph, the true Guardian of Tradition, for this year's pilgrims.

What’s included?

  • Start your pilgrimage spiritually grounded with TLM alongside your fellow pilgrims. (Church TBA)

  • An opportunity to learn more about the history and the liturgy of this pilgrimage from the heads of the chapter and our chaplain while getting to know the beautiful souls you will be walking with.

  • During the pilgrimage, we will handle camping accommodations, meals, hydration, and more. This includes bus tickets back to Oviedo on Monday.

Traditional fasting-style meals are provided (baguettes, apples, soup), but we also supply sausages, cheeses, and spreads—no other chapter does this, and it creates a warm, communal spirit.

  • After settling in at your lodging in Oviedo after the pilgrimage, join the group for a local Cider tasting in one of the best Cider regions in the world.

  • Conclude with a majestic Mass in the Oviedo Cathedral (location tentative), followed by a grand picnic.

    • Flights and transportation to/from Oviedo

    • Lodging in Oviedo on Friday night (we’ll recommend options)

    • Lodging in Covadonga on Monday night (we’ll also send recommendations)

    • Personal gear (sleeping bag, etc.—we’ll provide a detailed list)

Tithe for Tradition is proud to sponsor this initiative. A limited number of scholarships are available for those in need-don't let cost be the only obstacle to participating.
